Jeff Mumford
Jeff is a West Coast Swing instructor and is considered the premiere expert on mobility in the dance community. Due to his substantial knowledge and understanding of movement and mobility, he ascended to the highest level of competition in only five years. In addition to being known for his social dancing, Jeff conducts mobility intensives to help dancers understand and eliminate their physical limitation and constraints. Further, Jeff developed Mumfurious Movement to help dancers achieve their mobility aspirations and bring health and fitness to the forefront of dance.

Colleen Uspensky
Colleen UspenskyFinding West Coast Swing in 2005, Colleen is extremely passionate about using social dance as a tool to spread kindness and joy to all walks of life. With her degree in Dance Education from the University of Northern Colorado, she has developed and customized social dance curriculum throughout the midwest, US and Europe. Colleen currently works in the arts education sector, where she brings social dance and visual arts into the classroom. Her greatest achievement is her little family made up of her husband and dance partner, two amazing kids and a very special doodle

Dawn Sgarlata
Dawn SgarlataFor over 25 years West Coast Swing has been Dawn’s passion. She began competing on the UCWDC circuit back in 1996 which started the journey she’s been on ever since. She has competed in many swing competitions and has won and placed in Jack-n-Jill and Strictly Swing contests. She gained knowledge and experience from many years of training with top dance professionals and is a GPDIA certified teacher. Dawn teaches privates and small group classes in the Wellington area and at Goldcoast Ballroom. She also hosts a monthly WCS swing dance at Goldcoast Ballroom and currently competes at the All-Star level. She loves to learn, so continues her education with top professionals across the U.S. and brings that knowledge to her local community.

Robert Cordoba
Born & raised in South Pasadena, CA. Has lived in London, Boston and now resides in Deerfield Beach, Florida. He is a lifelong Laker, Dodgers, Rams & USC Trojans fan.
Robert Cordoba has been dancing, teaching, performing, choreographing, and judging for over forty years. He started competing in International Latin at the age of sixteen when he was a member of two U.S. International Latin American formation teams (placing 5th and then taking the 3rd place bronze medal at the World Ballroom Formation Team Championships). He lived and trained in London for two years and was a top U.S Amateur competitor representing the US at events throughout Europe until he switched to West Coast Swing in 1990. Within two years he won his first U.S. Open Swing Dance Champion title. For the past thirty three years Robert has averaged approximately forty weekends per year traveling around the world to teach West Coast Swing. His impressive list of accomplishments includes: 2 World Championship titles, 7 U.S. Open titles, 4 consecutive USA Grand National titles, 4 consecutive N.A.S.D.E. titles, multiple Champion & Invitational level J&J and Strictly Swing titles, was voted best Classic Swing Dancer by Dance Action magazine, was awarded “U.S. Open Social Dancer”, and he was the first person to win 3 consecutive US Open titles. Robert is a member of an elite core of less than 10 dancers who have won BOTH the Showcase and the Classic Divisions at the U.S. Open. He is a California Swing Dance Hall of Famer, Dallas D.A.N.C.E. Hall of Famer and a World Swing Dance Hall of Famer. Robert Cordoba has judged every major event including the USA Grand Nationals and U.S. Open multiple times. He has been the head judge, MC and DJ at events throughout the U.S., Europe, South America and the South Pacific. He is among the first group of professionals to help get West Coast Swing scenes established in New York & East Coast (early 1990’s), Europe (mid 1990’s) and South Pacific (early 2000’s). Other accomplishments include: He was a Dance Fever Grand Finalist (3rd place overall) and has danced in commercials (Budweiser & Burger King) as well as on TV. He and former partner Deborah Szekely also choreographed the wedding dance for Grammy & Emmy award winner & Oscar nominee Danny Elfman & Bridget Fonda. Robert is a G.P.D.I.A., Global Professional Dance Instructors Association, Master Certified Instructor. Robert is currently living in Deerfield Beach, Florida and is available for privates, workshops, intensive, coaching, choreography and teacher training as well as G.P.D.I.A. Teacher Certification. |
Beth & Bruce Perrotta
Beth & Bruce Perrotta
Meeting at Goldcoast Ballroom in 2002, Bruce and Beth immediately made a “connection”. They began competing together nationally on the WCS circuit in 2003, founded their dance company, DanSynergy, Inc. in 2005 and have been a part of the foundation of WCS growth in Florida. They have owned and directed Florida Dance Magic, an International, WSDC registered weekend WCS event, held annually for 14 years.
In 2006 they headed out to CA for training intensives with Skippy Blair and her staff of champion instructors to improve their dance with the GSDTA (Golden State Dance Teachers Association). With a desire to teach they continued their training and received GSDTA teacher certification in 2007. Bruce, a former semi-pro football player and Beth a special education teacher, brought their skills together along with their passion dance and began teach. They have taught the GSDTA WCS curriculum on Monday nights at Goldcoast Ballroom in Coconut Creek, FL, for the past 16 1/2 years. During these years Beth and Bruce have developed taught monthly workshops as well as sponsored many workshop weekends. bringing in national level WCS Champions. They have hosted and DJ’d many dance evenings, and taught as guest instructors for the S. Florida Swing Dance Society, Space Coast Dance Club, and many local area WCS dances and studios. They have also been Pro Instructors and WCS judges at many Florida WSDC WCS event weekends, including Miami Dance Magic, Tampa Bay Classic, Sweet Heart Swing Classic, River City Swing, OJam, and Summer Swing Classic. They continue to teach group and private lessons weekly, throughout Palm Beach and Broward counties. Their goal has always been to elevate the level of dance for their students through strong fundamental instruction, to introduce new music and dance ideas from around the country and to provide a welcoming and supportive class environment. They continue to attend workshops with top nationally known professionals and strive to bring back the latest in style and technique to their growing student base. |
